Race Reports - EuroCat 2009

A good turn out of over 20 French and English spitfires at Eurocat saw the English pairing of Alex Farr / Marcelle Newbold (100) take first place in fleet, with Vincent Bouvier / Fanny Merelle (150) France second, and Thierry and Christine WIBAUX (203) France third. Racing was intense with 5 races in variable winds up to force 5 on the Friday, a long distance on the Saturday, in light airs, and 2 races in light winds on Sunday. The Spitfires raced round the cans in a mixed C1 fleet of 62 boats including tornados, vipers and Sproat/Burke on their Crewsaver Spitfire Sport. Crewsaver took first overall in the handicap, with Farr/Newbold 3rd overall in their Spitfire. A good event, with excellent results in a mixed fleet for the Spitfire teams.
