Welcome to the British Spitfire Class Association website. The spitfire is a high performance double-handed catamaran with an asymmetric spinnaker. It is suitable for both Adults and Youth teams and is exhilarating and fun to sail in all conditions whether it be close boat on boat racing or sailing for fun.

The Spitfire is the most popular youth multi-hull in the UK for over ten years and is used by UKCRA Youth. As well as adults it is well suited to sailors moving out junior and into youth classes. It is supported by the RYA and has a good fleet at the RYA Youth Nationals from which the most competitive teams are selected to join the RYA Multi-Hull squad with the top team competing at the ISAF World Championships. Thinking 420 or 29er? Think Spitfire.

The BSCA organises a competitive grand prix traveller series and training. Being an BSCA member gains entry to training and the race series along with many discounts from our class sponsors. An invite of training from UKCRA Youth is extended to all BSCA members.

All of our BSCA members know it important to bring new sailors into the class. We run several “Try A Spitfire” days throughout the year where you can come along and try out the boat. If you cant attend on the day get in touch and we can arrange for one of our members to take you out for a spin.

The Spitfire is the ideal introduction to high performance sailing, being faster than a 49er and not far off the speed of an F18, yet extremely manageable with low loads. If you are an aspiring Nacra 17 team, lighter adults or a parent/ child combination, think Spitfire.
