Like any boat the Spitfire is technical and the difference in performance tuning can make or break a race. The BSCA Rigging Guide is a good start for all teams however some numbers will work different for others. You should keep track of your own settings and build up a log of numbers which you can refer to at future events. Had a good race? Record your settings!
The tuning guide was the output of a tuning session with Paul Wakelin and UKCRA Youth Teams in 2014. Team weights range from 110 to 150kg so this should prove to be a good overall guide. When measuring rig tension be aware that zero errors on the Loos Gauge (5-7mm Wire) mean that no two are the same. Use your gauge on other boats when comparing numbers.
